Promoting National Nurses Week
It truly does take a special kind of person to be a nurse; they are on the frontline and behind the scenes. During their long shifts they keep it together through their courage, compassion and dedication all while providing unconditional service. We are less than two months away from celebrating our nurses nationally and we're here to help you prepare! In doing so, we wanted to give you a little bit of history about this week, so you can better understand the importance of this national appreciation for our frontline workers, called nurses.Quick History:
According to the American Nurses Association, National Nurses Week was designated from May 6th to May 12th in 1994 and has since been the same dates for all subsequent years. During this week we also celebrate “National RN Recognition Day” on May 6th and “National Student Nurses Day” on May 8th. Additionally, as of 2003 the Wednesday that falls during Nurse Week is recognized as “National School Nurse Day." The week's celebration ends on May 12th and is the birthday of Florence Nightingale who is best known as the founder of “modern nursing” according to History.com.Now that you know a little bit more about this national appreciation week, did you know that only 60% of nurses are employed in hospitals? That's right! According to Nurse Journal nurses that work in hospital settings make up the largest group of employed nurses. If you are left wondering where the other 40% are working, let us help. Nurses are found in schools, at-home care, hospice facilities, and some are even traveling nurses! Check out the items that we believe make the most thoughtful gifts for all the different kinds of nurses in our lives below.
Academic:
Nurses are more than just frontline workers. They can also be teachers! Nurse educators are the ones who help teach and train nursing students at universities and community colleges. At Gold Bond, we have several functional and practical items for students and teachers in the nursing field. This includes our products made out of stone paper for smoother writing when taking endless notes. It's an item they can use at school, during their working career, or even in the office. With Nurses Week being so close to summer graduation, it's always a great time to bundle a few products together! One example of this while featuring some of our Best Sellers can be seen below, where someone combined the Stone notebook, Twilight pen, and Monument mug together. Your department's educators or students getting their degrees will appreciate this token of appreciation and the extra thought you put into it.At-home Healthcare:
These nurses are always on the go! Sometimes they have regular clients they meet with daily and other times they are scheduled to meet multiple people throughout the day. With their busy schedules and always being on the move, our popular tumblers and mugs make incredibly reliable gifts for nurses. Feel free to consult with your Sales Rep about good, better, and best options today. One great example is picking between our CHIMP20, KONG, and MAMMOTH based on their needs! The CHIMP20 is an excellent option, but the MAMMOTH is bigger, has a handle, and includes a reusable straw!School Nurse:
Whether it's a private or public school, all primary and secondary schools have at least one nurse on staff. During Nurses Week, this is a great opportunity for your local school district to say thanks and spread love to their fellow nurses. They stay busy all day long helping sick or injured children. We're genuinely surprised at how they manage to get through the school year without taking a sick day themselves. They work hard throughout the day taking care of our children and most days they have to sneak food in between student visits to their office. This is why we think the MIDNIGHTRAMBLER is an appropriate appreciation gift for them. It's a versatile bag that's great for carrying their lunch to work or it can be used as a toiletry bag for whenever they decide to take a vacation. The most exciting part? If you pick between laser or dome imprinting, you can also personalize the plate to have their name on it!Telehealth:
These nurses may spend a lot of time behind the scenes and screens, but in today's digital world they are just as critical as the rest! They deliver professional care remotely whenever you are unable to make it to an appointment in person. Write a thank you note to a nurse and pair it with one of our BLUEBLOCKERS glasses. This will show them that you truly care about the work they do remotely at a distance. The glasses are designed to decrease the overexposure to blue light that can lead to digital eye strain. You can also turn this into an upsell opportunity, by suggesting our newly released STARTER kit! Our new kit makes a great WFH gift! For more promotional item suggestions, please check out our Nurses Week Flyer or for a more in-depth look at Healthcare ideas, check out our full Healthcare Guide!
